St julians HSOB match report

 

After a few weeks off due to bad weather Forgeside played hosts to St Julians HSOB in a 2nd v 3rd shoot out. 
 
Both teams started well with a physically exchanges. Forgeside were first to score with a penalty from fullback Morgan Parry.  St Julians played the conditions and kept kicking long in to Forgeside's 22. After all this pressure St Julians were given a penalty which they converted. 
 
3-3 after 20 minutes. 
 
Forgeside forwards then stepped up a gear turning the screw in the scrum with hooker Dan Warren taking 8 balls  against the head along with strong scrummaging from Darran Walters David Evans Lloyd Wathen and areon Pearce. Pressure told on St Julians scrum with Forgeside having a push over try scored by Steve Howard and converted by Parry.

The 2nd half started with St Julians keeping the ball and trying to break Forgeside defence down. But with strong tackles from Liam Swinn and Darren Wagg and expert jackal from Liam "Trav" Mattravers Forgeside kept St Julians out. 
 
Forgeside started to get more possession and slowly work the way up the field with nothing on fullback Morgan Parry sat back in the pocket and hit a 35 meter drop goal to make the score 13-3. 
 
With the game now moving into the last 20 minutes St Julians started to get desperate and throw everything in to attack more and more pressure was put on Forgeside defence with again strong tackles from Liam Nutt, Bradley Jenkins and Daniel Fieldhouse kept St Julians out. With 10 minutes left and St Julians camped on Forgeside line St Julians outside half threw a wild miss pass which was intercepted by Parry who had a 80 meter sprint in under the post which he converted.  Putting the score 20-3. 
 
Forgeside finished the game as they started with a strong defence keeping St Julians to a single penalty. Man of the match voted by the supporters was outside centre Liam Swinn who tackled everything in sight. Liam's brother Jack Swinn also made his debut off the bench for Forgeside in the 2nd row. 
 
Forgeside now play Girlings away next Saturday
