Former player of the week - Tony “sarge” Davies

Winger and Flanker predominantly (Centre & Full Back for US Portsmouth)

13 years as a player 

Any other roles while at the club:

Coach for 2 years and Team Manager for a season and a half. Also a former WRU Referee.

Previous Clubs:

United Services Portsmouth, Gosport & Fareham. 27th Regt RA & 47th Regt RA. Invitational games for HMS Driad, Avonmouth and 5th Iniskillen Dragoon Guards. 

Honours:

Represented Pontypool Districts for 2 seasons and played in the Howells Cup on several occasions. 

Best Rugby Moments:

Watching my son play for the Army at Twickenham in front of 86,000 spectators on several occasions, and also playing in the Forces World Cup final. Guiding Forgeside to win the Ivor Jones Cup final as assistant coach. Refereeing an Ivor Jones Cup final. 

Worst Rugby Moment:

Losing to Crickhowell in the final of Ivor Jones Cup on The Park many years ago!
