1stXV travel to Hereford for preseason friendly.

After the disappointment of last weeks game being cancelled by Markham RFC. A small squad traveled up to Hereford.

The game gave a chance for new summer signings to get a run out with Mark White, Garin Bright, Lyndon Ward and Chris George all starting.

We also would like to thank Scott Williams and Ioan Seaward who also came along for the run out and both put in big performances

After a full summer of preseason training taken by coaches Jason Bright and Rob Livings the boys were happy to get out on the field and start to put this hard work into action.

It was also good to see number 8 Dan Williams and flanker Bradley Jenkins back on the field after their summer sabbaticals both putting in good shifts.

Forgeside first half defence was soild with Matt Meredith making a number of strong try saving tackles.

After an unlikey breakout from second row Ioan Williams who was running down the park "as if he was running in quicksand" a well timed pass to Peter Walker who ran in for Forgeside first points for the season. This was converted by last season top points scorer Gareth Baxter.

HT 12-7

With match fitness showing and a few injuries the games second half was one way traffic for the hosts. With the final score ending 40-7

It was also good to welcome back to the playing field Oillie White who missed last season due to an injury.

Next week we have a bye in the first round of the league and play a friendly against Caerleon RFC 2nds away.
