Abersychan match report

After two months of no home game Forgeside entertained Abersychan RFC Saturday.

Forgeside were looking to build on the success from the last few games and set a marker down for this local derby.

Forgeside welcomed back injured front row David BUB Evans, Daniel Warren and Darren Walters with the rest of the team unchanged from pervious game.

Abersychan were welcomed by a mix of weather from sun, wind, rain, hale and snow all in the 80 minutes.

The game started with strong Forgeside pressure and open side Dan Williams scoring  early on. Forgeside then let Abersychan in with a mistake followed by a kick chase and run in for the line which was converted 7 all.

More pressure from the Forgeside pack lead to scores from Steve Howard and Morgan Parry with Parry adding the extra with the boot.

Abersychan hit back with a long range drop goal helped by wind power to bring the score to 28-10 with 20 minutes gone.

Forgeside again tighten the game up with strong scrummaging and driving lineouts. Scores came from 2nd row oillie white, scrum half rob livings and Howard again.

Half time score Forgeside 46 - Aberyschan 10.

With the weather getting worse Forgeside kept the pressure on Abersychan and pined them into the corners of the field. More pressure turned into try's from wing Ben Phillips, second row Connor Griffiths, another for White, Howard, Williams, Parry and two more from Livings.

Forgeside ended the game winners 88-10.

Next week Forgeside travel to west mon old boys in what should be a cracking game.
